SANTA MARIA DA FEIRA · FAMILY DAYS

A storybook winter day at Perlim

If your Porto trip stretches into December, a festive day out in Santa Maria da Feira could add a different rhythm to the city break: castle surroundings, seasonal stories, and room for the children to follow their curiosity.

Last checked 31 October 2026 · Event information is subject to organizer updates.

Perlim’s 2026 season is scheduled for 28 November to 30 December at Quinta do Castelo in Santa Maria da Feira. The municipality’s recent official announcement describes this year’s theme as dreams; the park is aimed at visitors of different ages. The town’s lights opening is planned for 27 November, with the park opening to visitors the following day. The dates are also listed by Visit Portugal.

Give the day its own space

This is a day trip, not a quick stop between Porto sights. Leave time for getting there and back, and check the current public-transport or driving options for your chosen date before committing to a schedule. If you are travelling with young children, build in a quiet meal and a warm layer for the evening.

Check the dates before you go

The park is not open every day in the season. The organizer’s visitor-information page lists the current operating calendar, access guidance and updates. Recheck those details close to your visit rather than relying on a general date range alone.

The official Perlim announcement also says the Christmas lights opening is planned for 27 November at 20:30 in Praça da República. It describes a parade and a drone display as part of that opening celebration. These are specific to the opening night; check the municipality or organizer for any updates before travelling.

Keep Porto in the picture, too

Pair the day away with a slower Porto morning or another city day. Our first-time Porto guide helps with the essentials, while the Douro day-trip guide is another option if you are weighing a countryside outing against a festive family visit.

For a gentle plan, check the event calendar, choose a day with a comfortable return window, and leave the rest of the trip unhurried.
